REGIONAL AUSTRALIAN INFRASTRUCTURE ASSETS

This segment of the website expands upon the strategy for the integration of existing regional-based infrastructure assets and their capacity to provide ‘a place for freight’ within the national freight logistics industry sector.

The I-PG infrastructure project is focused upon the value-adding and further development of the Port of Gladstone – Eastern Australia’s second largest export resources commodity port.

The plan includes and makes provision for the commercial development of the 23,000ha Gladstone State Development Area (‘GSDA’), a defined area of land set aside for industry, infrastructure corridors and major public works, established to promote economic development in Queensland. The GSDA will underpin the development of a comprehensive range of support-based industries and facilitate the migration of major commercial outlets to Gladstone. Relocation of industries and support-based operations to the region will naturally flow as time and cost benefits emerge as the overall development proceeds.
